another poem i wrote. ONCE UPON A TIME

 

You once held my hand for a reason

Not because you love me but because you need me

You once held my hand for another reason

Not because you see me but because you looked at me

 

I once dreamed of the day you’ll let me enter your heart

The day you’ll realize I’m the one for you

I once dreamed of the day you’ll hold me close

The day I’ll realize fairytales do come true

 

I once sought for the time you’ll fight for me

Not because I’m in trouble but because we’re in trouble

I once sought for the time you’ll want me

Not because of what I have but because of what I don’t have

 

Last night, you held my hand for a reason

Not just because you need me but because you love me

Last night, you held my hand for another reason

Not just because you looked at me but because you see me

 

For the times I’ve sought, should I be worried I’ll never find?

For the times I’ve dreamed, should I be frightened I’ll never wake up?

For the times you’ve held me, should I be scared you’ll let go?

Or for this time that I know who I am to you, should I fear you’re only looking at me because you see some else?

 

 

Questions linger in my mind

Questions finding the right answers

But until then I’ll always remember the day

The day when suddenly, I became beautiful in your eyes

 

Once, I sought

Once, I dreamed

Once, you held me
